Quentin Tarantino has "changed his mind" about his 10th blockbuster.

The Hollywood director was working on The Movie Critic, based on a real-life pundit, for his final film before retirement. But the 61-year-old has reportedly "gone back to the drawing board" and decided to drop the flick, which was set to star actor Brad Pitt.

Tarantino's said for years that he'll leave the industry after his 10th movie, but it doesn't look like it's going to be The Movie Critic. Other insiders reported that lots of script changes had dramatically switched-up the film, which was based in 1977 Los Angeles.

Detailing the project's concept at Cannes Film Festival last year, Tarantino explained it was "based on a guy who really lived but was never really famous, and he used to write movie reviews for a porno rag". He told Deadline: "All the other stuff was too skanky to read, but then there was this porno rag that had a really interesting movie page."

Reports indicated that some of Quentin's famous film characters from other flicks were to return in The Movie Critic. Brad was set to play Cliff Booth, his stuntman character from 2019's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The outlet says a filming day was planned for one day in August to allow production a $20.5 million California Tax Credit, before shooting would start fully in early 2025. It's not the first time Tarantino has ditched a project so suddenly, calling off The Hateful Eight in 2014 after the script got leaked, eventually coming back for production in 2015.

He was thought to be working on an R-rated Star Trek film for Paramount, as well as a Vegas Brothers project which was set to star Michael Madsen as Vic Vega from 1992's Reservoir Dogs and John Travolta as Vincent Vega from 1994's Pulp Fiction.

News comes after Quentin's drama last year at Cannes, almost getting into a tussle at the exclusive Carlton hotel after trying to take another man's seat in the lobby bar. While many people may have recognised the famous Hollywood director, one particular Brit did not – prompting QT to utter the words: "Don’t you know who I am?"

An insider told the Mirror: "It was just after midnight and the man was sitting on a stool at the lobby bar when he felt someone try to grab the chair and drag it from beneath him. He turned around so Quentin said, 'Can I have that chair?' The man said, 'No, you can't have that chair because I’m sitting on it and I’m not moving'."

"His refusal really riled Quentin and he accused him of being aggressive in front of his crew. Realising the guy didn't recognise him, Quentin said, 'Don’t you know who I am?' and everyone around started laughing because obviously it's Quentin Tarantino. He tried to sit on the chair while the man was sitting on it but the man stood his ground."
