Former world champion Judd Trump is also playing on the opening day with a tough draw against Hossein Vafaei.

O'Sullivan, 48, was last out of the hat as he was drawn against Welshman Jackson Page.

However, he will not play his first game until April 24.

The Rocket won a record-equalling seventh title in 2022.

O'Sullivan was beaten by Brecel in the quarter-final last year and is bidding to make his own history by winning a record eighth World Championship title.

Jackson Page is a 22-year-old Welsh snooker star nicknamed Action.

Page is a former World Snooker Champion and European Champion in younger age groups.

In 2016, he was crowned the Under-18 European Champion before later winning the World Under-18 Snooker Championship.

He turned professional in 2019, the same year he won the European Under-21 Championship.

Despite his youth he has already shown he can tussle with the big boys at snooker majors, with an impressive semi-final result at the World Open last month.

He is mentored by Mark Williams, and has faced O'Sullivan twice before.

On both occasions saw the Rocket come out victorious, with their latest match being a 4-1 win for O'Sullivan at last years English Open.

But he could get some tips from Williams, who shocked O'Sullivan in the Tour Championship final earlier this month.
