She chatted to Scottish comedian Richard about his football team Dundee United yet was hugely stunned when Jessica spoke in a West Yorkshire accent.

This prompted the anchor to squeal to the cast member: "You obviously sound so different!

"Can I say as a Scottish person - and we are both Scottish people [gesturing to Richard] - cracking accent!

"I honestly thought you were Scottish!"

Jessica, who was giggling, then replied: "Thank you so much!"

Lorraine continued: "And you speaking like that, it's like 'woww!'.

"'Is Jessica talking funny?' It's amazing."

One show fan was quick to agree and took to X to write: "Wait.. #JessicaGunning isn't Scottish?????

"WOW…. She does an incredible Scottish accent!! Bravo.

"Baby Reindeer is such a rollercoaster of emotions, even more so knowing #RichardGadd actually went through all of it. Amazing."

The TV star, who was born in Huddersfield, made her small-screen debut when in an episode of Doctor Who back in 2008.

She then starred as Angela in Law & Order: UK and then joined Stephen Merchant in The Outlaws.

Real life

Baby Reindeer is based on Richard's real-life experiences of a stalker - and the reaction of the police.

She bombarded him with thousands of emails - which were depicted exactly as they were in the show.

Baby reindeer is the pet name the stalker Martha gives to lead character Donny during their often-suffocating and awkward interactions.

Ultimately, his experiences became a harassment case that spanned over four years.

Richard, who also penned hit show Sex Education, has never revealed the "real" name of Martha and she is now legally prevented from contacting him.

Name game

Jessica's real accent was not the only shock on Lorraine this week.

Earlier in the week, the show anchor revealed her real name - and it's not what fans might think.

It came after Lorraine took to social media to reveal she will soon become a grandma for the first time.

GMB anchor Susanna Reid, 53, congratulated Lorraine on the news and she replied: "So my married name is Smith."

And bursting into giggles, she added: "So I will be granny Smith!" in an apparent reference to the apple type.

Lorraine is married to another Steve - cameraman Steve Smith - who prefers to stay away from the spotlight.

Lorraine continued: "Thank you to everyone who has sent me messages.

"It's very kind of you, it means a lot."
