Shortly after, Brendan announced he had been axed from the show after fifteen series - and he announced his removal from the show on ITV's Lorraine.

He told her: “It’s quite, actually, hard to talk about. The BBC haven’t renewed my contract. We get contracted year upon year. They’ve made an editorial decision to not have me back on the show. I’m a little bit in shock. I’m quite emotional, a bit raw about it."

Talking on GMB the next day, Charlotte said: "That makes it look like it's my fault, like it was my dancing that was the last straw."

Her co-host Piers  Morgan said: "You have to ask, were you so bad?"

"I hope it was nothing to do with me. It's a BBC decision. I think it's really sad. He's been there from the start and done 15 series," she responded.

"He is the one that spoke his mind. He did have my back when the judges were being harsh during criticisms."
