CHANNEL 4 viewers have been left excitedly screaming after Netflix star Nicola Coughlan dropped the first trailer for her new comedy Big Mood.
The Irish star is worlds away from Bridgerton and Derry Girls in the gritty six-part series.
Nicola, 37, will play 30-something-year-old Maggie Donvan in Big Mood. She will share the screen with It’s A Sin’s Lydia West who plays her best friend Eddie.
Earlier this week, Nicola shared the first teaser trailer for the series, which sees Maggie get into an altercation with another woman at a party who accuses her of sleeping with a married man.
Maggie initially denies it, but when the name Alison Shaw (Freya Parker) comes up, she fesses up.

Alongside it, the Penelope Featherington actress teased: “BIG MOOD FIRST LOOK!!”
“Coming to Channel 4 28th March from 10pm. All episodes available as a boxset to stream on All4 from midnight on the 28th.
“Very excited for you to have Maggie and Eddie in your lives very soon.”
While only short, the teaser promises a series packed full of comedy, and fans seem to agree.
Many flooded Nicola’s post with comments, sharing their excitement.
“CAN’T FREAKING WAIT TO SEE THIS!!” wrote one ecstatic fan.
“Already obsessed!!” agreed another.
A third said: “I seriously can’t wait! Counting the days down!”
“This looks so good! Can’t wait to watch it!!!” gushed another.
“AAAAAAAAAA MY QUEEN,” screamed a fifth.

What is Big Mood about?
Big Mood is described by Channel 4 as a “vivacious and rebellious portrayal of female friendship when infiltrated by the complexities of a serious mental illness.”
Maggie and Eddie have been best-friends for over a decade and have gone through all the ups and downs of life together.
“But with the rest of their lives looming, careers hanging in the balance, and Maggie’s bipolar disorder making an unwelcome return to form, Eddie begins to question whether this friendship is really in their best interests,” the synopsis teases.

Who will star in Big Mood?
Alongside Nicola and Lydia, Big Mood stars Niamh Cusack (The Virtues), Eamon Farren (The Witcher), Luke Featherston (Flowers in the Attic: The Origin), Kate Fleetwood (The Wheel of Time) and Freya Parker (One Day).
Miranda and Bridget Jones’ Diary alum Sally Phillips will also star in the series, while Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page will make a guest appearance as herself.
The series also welcomes Rob Gilbert, Rebecca Lowman, Ukweli Roach, Sarah Durham and Amalia Vitale in supporting roles.
Who wrote Big Mood?
Big Mood is written by Camilla Whitehall, who has written episodes of the hospital comedy Porters, and the Coronavirus drama Bruised Sky.
The series is partially inspired by Nicola’s long-time friendship with writer Camilla. The Bridgerton star told Variety that the pair met while at drama school in Oxford, and have been friends since.
“When we left drama school, we were both in various states of not working and everything being a bit crap. And she was like, ‘I’m not gonna be an actor, I want to write.’”
“I went to see her first short play night, and she was just – she’s always been insanely funny. But then, when I saw it, I was like, ‘Oh, she’s gonna be a famous writer.’”
The long-time friends previously worked together when they co-wrote the limited series podcast Whistle Through the Shamrocks in 2021.
Big Mood will premiere 28 March on Channel 4 at 10pm and all episodes will be available to stream from midnight on All4.
