HARRY Styles's stalker has been jailed and banned from watching the star perform after sending him 8,000 cards in less than a month.

Myra Carvalho, 35, travelled from her native Brazil before harassing the One Direction singer at his home.

Her stalking campaign included sending handwritten letters and and "wedding cards" to Harry's address in north London.

Carvalho was staying at a hostel in Earls Court, west London after entering the UK on a visitors visa.

Alejandra Toscon, for the Crown, said the stalking charge related to the “writing of cards online" and the "posting of handwritten letters".

The online cards were then "sent to the complainant via a third party”, Toscon told Harrow Crown Court.

The prosecutor said Carvalho's stalking had a "substantial effect on the complainant's usual day-to-day activities",

She added: "You knew or ought to have known that your course of conduct would cause alarm or distress."

Insiders said Harry had only recently returned from a holiday in the Caribbean when the stalking happened.

A source previously told The Sun: “Harry was really shaken up. He had spent the start of the month in Anguilla on holiday.

"He'd had a great break. This happened not long after he had come back to London."

"Harry just wants to carry on as normal but naturally this has been concerning for him, his family and his team."

Carvalho, who has a partner at home in Brazil, had left the country without her parents' knowledge.

The court heard that she had expressed "sexual urges" towards 30-year-old Harry.

Her parents reportedly wept in court as they watched their daughter appear via video link from HMP Bronzefield in Surrey.

Clementine Simon, acting for Carvalho, said her client's doctor in Brazil believed she was suffering from a manic episode.

Carvalho has been jailed for 14 weeks after pleading guilty on Tuesday to a charge of stalking involving serious alarm or distress.

She was also handed a ten-year restraining order and cannot attend any event where Harry is performing.

The backpacker has been ordered to pay a £134 victim surcharge and told not to enter an area of north west London outlined in court.
