David Beckham has commenced legal proceedings over a fitness brand deal with actor Mark Wahlberg after claiming it cost him £8.5million.

The legendary footballer's company, DB Ventures Ltd had joined forces with gym group F45 along with Mark and had agreed to be the firm's global ambassador. David and Mark had forged a friendship after the sportsman and his wife Victoria moved to LA in 2007, and lived in the same Beverly Hills neighbourhood. But now, David is reportedly claiming that he was "duped" by the Hollywood star.

According to The Sun, David is claiming that he was promised stocks by F45 and Mark Wahlberg's company but they were withheld until after share prices dropped, which in turn allegedly lost him £8.5m. And so the father of four has now taken legal action against Mark's company, Mark Wahlberg Investment Group [MWIG] and F45 founders Adam Gilchrist and Rob Deutsch.

In response to David's claims, Mark and F45 owners say the allegations of "fraudulent conduct" have no basis and have asked the judge to dismiss the lawsuit. They are also claiming that David's company are blaming everyone but themselves. The publication also reports that documents surrounding the case state the "209 page, 610 paragraph SAC [complaint] tries to make up with length what it lacks in merit."

It had been reported that David initially teamed up with golf star Greg Norman who also fell out with F45 but a judge reportedly insisted the pair had to sue individually. Away from the stress of a lawsuit, David appears to be facing another stress, this time with the fact his daughter Harper is growing up.

Earlier this month, the star became emotional and struggled to hold back tears as he shared an adorable post about Harper. David posted a black and white picture of him and his daughter taken during a night out. In the picture David is dressed to impress in a black tuxedo and Harper, taking after her mum, stunned in a silk dress.

Showing off their close bond, Harper is seen sat on her dad's lap. In the caption he wrote: "My little girl is growing up [face holding back tears emoji]. He then added "boys get ready" before tagging his three sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz along with a boxing glove emoji. Turning his attention to his wife Victoria, he tagged her in the post and wrote "good job mamma." And it didn't take long for fans to comment on the post. One person said: "You seem to have a beautiful relationship, good job Dad!"

Meanwhile, another fan added: "Like father like daughter cute photo!" And a third person said: "One thing about you and Victoria: You made 4 absolutely beautiful children!" But it's not only David's children that get his love and affection. After Victoria broke her foot and had to wear a medical boot, he bought her a "knee rover", which is a scooter made for people who can't put weight on their foot or ankle.

The Mirror has reached out to David Beckham and Mark Walberg's reps for comment.
