Klopp issues Salah warning

After seeing Mo Salah score his 20th goal of the season against Sparta Prague, Klopp has warned the Egyptian is now back to his best form. Speaking after the win, the German coach said: "The timing is super good. You saw that last night, how many goals did he set up first half? Then he was involved in everything else pretty much.

“He was exceptional. It was a strange game in the second half, I would have loved to have taken him off, but that was not possible because of Bobby Clark’s injury situation, and he managed that pretty well.”

Salah’s goal against the Czech side saw him break a long-standing Liverpool record. He is the first man to score 20 goals in seven consecutive seasons. The previous record was six, which belonged to iconic former forward Ian Rush.

Klopp apologises after victory

While Klopp was delighted with Salah’s form, the Liverpool boss still had a difficult evening elsewhere. The German apologised after an angry incident with referee Artur Dias.

"Actually the thing is we wanted to change and the fourth official was showing it but the ref let the game go on and then we get the yellow card (for Quansah)," he said. "The yellow card wasn't the problem, I was afraid Conor Bradley could get injured in that situation and that's what clicked a little bit in my mind."

Klopp added: "I told the ref after the game the yellow card was fine. I was calm before and calm after, just in that little moment I lost it a little bit. Sorry."

Liverpool star backed for Newcastle move

Former Newcastle star Lee Clark has revealed that it is his “ultimate dream” to see his son Bobby play for the Magpies in the future. Speaking on the Tippy Tappy Football podcast, he said: “Absolutely. I don’t know how many fathers and sons have done it for the club.

“I was lucky enough to do it 265 times. Who knows, he might have to do an Alan Shearer and come back. But yeah, that would be my ultimate dream. Definitely.”

Clark senior represented Newcastle during two spells. Bobby also spent seven years within the club’s youth system before a move to Liverpool.
