Princess Kate will be given a special honour at the Irish Guards' St Patrick's Day parade, according to reports.

'Three cheers' are expected to be given in her absence by soldiers at the annual ceremony this weekend, who will also send their best wishes.

The Princess of Wales became honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards in 2022 following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Kate has been absent from royal duties since undergoing surgery in January, and is expected to return after Easter once she has completed her recovery.

The troops' gesture will come towards the end of celebratory parade at Mons Barracks in Hampshire this Sunday, reports People magazine.

Kensington Palace and the Ministry of Defence have been approached for comment. It comes after a royal insider claimed Princess Kate is recovering well following her abdominal surgery in January, which was carried out at The London Clinic in the centre of the capital. The royal mother of three is hoped to be on track return to official duties by Easter, which is in just over two weeks' time

The insider told a celebrity news publication: "The rumour mill — particularly on social media — has gotten out of control, but Kate is recovering well and she will be back by Easter. She just needs to be left in peace."

Kensington Palace have meanwhile insisted that they will not be reissuing the unedited photograph of Princess of Wales and her children, after controversy arose over apparent editing of the image. After multiple news agencies pulled it from their libraries, Kate apologised in a statement on social media which read: "Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C."

Sources have said they feared the scrutiny Kate faces could tip into the realm of bullying, and she that needs space and time to recover from her operation. She was seen leaving Windsor on Monday in a car sat next to husband Prince William, who was on his way to the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.
