It isn't the only disaster interview to hit BBC Breakfast this month

BBC Breakfast viewers were left reaching for the remote this morning as they tore into an MP's "car crash" interview.

Regular show hosts Jon Kay and Sally Nugent were back on the famous red sofa to wake Britain up with the day's headlines and guests.

Among the names appearing on Monday's show was MP Kemi Badenoch.

The Secretary of State for Business and Trade was speaking to Jon and Sally live from Coventry.

Among one of the topics she was probed on was tech tycoon Frank Hester's "racist" comments about MP Diane Abbot.

The Tory party's biggest donor allegedly said looking at the ex-shadow Home Secretary made him "want to hate all black women".

Despite last week branding the comments as racist, Ms Badenoch  came under fire this morning for telling Jon to "move on" with his questioning as she insinuated it was "old news".

Fans flocked to X/Twitter - to hit out at the "disaster" interview whilst others remarked that they had switched off entirely.

One viewer wrote: "Is this a Red Nose Day sketch? Car crash interview .... #BBCBreakfast."

Another followed up: "#BBCBreakfast sorry, turning off again, you say that you’re asking the questions that the viewing public want answered.

"What I don’t want is a BBC presenter going on and on and on asking a question that has been answered but not in the way BBC want so they keep going… #awful."

A third commented: "Just watched #KemiBadenoch on #BBCBreakfast. She’s trying to change her narrative. Never an attractive quality in a politician."

The BBC's latest car crash chat comes just over a week after fellow BBC journalist Naga Munchetty, 49, was slammed for undertaking her "worst" interview to date.

Naga was interviewing Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves on the programme but she interrupted the MP on a number of occasions which left BBC Breakfast viewers frustrated.

Raging on social media, fans branded it a weak interview from Naga - with one going as far as saying it was the "worst interview the BBC has done".
