A mum has recalled how she was left disgusted after making a bizarre find while she was emptying her dishwasher.

Shannon Crocker took to TikTok to showcase the moment she found a green tree frog lying flat on its back inside the common home appliance. It was obvious to her it was dead with its hind leg stuck between the vents of the filter.

Shannon, who lives in Muckadilla, a town in southwest Queensland, Australia, said there was no smell or sign there of the amphibian was inside the dishwasher until she spotted it lifeless. She admitted there was some relief on her part she hadn't taken her dishes out before the discovery.

"I thought…. Yuck! I am not touching that," she said. "We live in the bush so frogs in the house aren’t a rarity. Although I have never had one in the dishwasher before," she told Yahoo News.

Many other Aussies were quick to share their own shock about the find, questioning how the creature hopped into the appliance without being noticed. Shannon responded: "I would say it’s hopped in at some stage, and I didn’t see it before I turned the dishwasher on at night."

Other horrified users chimed in with some advice for the mum. "I'd burn the thing," one said. "Oh I’d be soaking the dishes in Clorox for a month," another wrote. A third added: "I'm throwing out ALL those dishes."

Shannon called the incident "so gross" but admitted: "I felt very sorry for him!"

Tree frogs are found throughout Australia and are particularly prevalent in the eastern side of the country. They often find themselves in unusual places.

Shannon's not the only person to be left creeped out by a grim find in their home recently. Another woman was left terrified after finding a hidden “Doomsday” message under five layers of wallpaper in her 150-year-old house.

Comedian Loubobang was renovating the property and documenting her progress on TikTok when she made the startling discovery. Despite not being easily spooked by any historic finds – including hidden cabinets and cellars – she was unnerved to discover something insidious lurking under the wallpaper.

Written in what appears to be a pen, the message reads: “Sept 10th DOOMSDAY.” It is not clear who left the message, but the contents were particularly unnerving to Loubobang, who revealed the date was her birthday.

In a video posted to her TikTok account, she says: “I’m not easily unsettled, I don’t mind hauntings, cellars, cupboards – whatever, I’ll deal with it. But today for the first time, I did feel a little bit edgy and that's because I've been stripping this wallpaper.

“There's about five layers of it before you get back to the original plaster. And as I was scraping I uncovered some writing and I thought 'I wonder what that says – so I scrapped away some more and it revealed 'September 10th Doomsday'.
