After initial medical checks Gibbs-White was able to rise to his feet and continue.

Beto, however, required further treatment and was down for several minutes.

Eventually the forward was stretchered off, but did appear to give a thumbs up to the crowd as he left the field of play.

He was replaced by Youssef Chermiti following a ten-minute delay.

After the game, Everton wrote on social media: "We can confirm that Beto was knocked unconscious and has been taken to hospital as a precaution.

"We're all with you, big man."

They have since issued a further statement on X that read: "Beto has now left hospital after medical investigations were clear."

Sky Sports, who were broadcasting the game in the UK, did not show a replay of the incident at any point.

Beto, 26, had replaced Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the 67th minute.

Gibbs-White, meanwhile, played the full match.

Both sides went into the game looking to climb further clear of 18th placed Luton.

Everton had started the day two points clear, with Forest one ahead of the Hatters.

It was Sean Dyche's side who extended their cushion, courtesy of goals by Idrissa Gueye and Dwight McNeil.

Beto arrived at Goodison Park in a £25million deal from Udinese last summer.

He has since appeared 35 times for the Toffees in all competitions, scoring five goals.
