WWE wrestler Jey Uso has opened up about having to shove a fan out of the way on live TV in a moment that went viral on social media.
Wrestling fans who watch the brand’s shows weekly will have noticed a new cinematic style which gives a glimpse behind the scenes before camera crews follow the stars through the entrance curtain and into the arena. But while these long shots are a stylish new addition to the shows, they mean stars are increasingly having to walk round excited fans and up and down stairs before hitting their spotlight on time.
Jey Uso made headlines this week after who tried to walk in front of him to get a selfie while the wrestler was trying to get through Montreal’s Bell Centre with a cameraman in tow on Monday Night Raw. The former Bloodline star gave him a firm push in the back and continued on his way without breaking his step in a move much-debated by fans on X, formerly Twitter, and Reddit afterwards.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror ahead of WWE’s sell-out appearance at The O2 on Friday, Uso told us exactly what happened from his perspective, describing the move as ‘a little nudge.’ He explained: “The shot should have been easy. All I had to do was just walk in, the cameraman follows me, we walk to Sammy.
'My wife wants to change our four-year-old's name but I think it is too late'"But one guy was trying to ruin the shot, trying to take a video selfie thing. He came in front of me so I gave him a little nudge but not a bad one, just to say he’s in the way. I think it's cool though, because it makes it more real, right? I thought it was a dope shot when Sami was walking by all the fans and he's high fiving them. I really liked that shot.”
WWE’s latest UK tour came straight off the back of the record-breaking two night Wrestlemania XL and saw them sell out events in Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff and London.
Celebrity guests joining the fun at The O2 on Friday night included boxer Anthony Joshua, who met champion Cody Rhodes backstage afterwards, footballer Wayne Rooney who was on the receiving end of some gentle mocking from Scottish wrestler Drew McIntyre and even Gladiator Apollo, real name Alex Gray, who took to the ring to support Ricochet in a bout against Judgment Day’s JD McDonagh.
Building on this success, tickets for WWE’s Clash at the Castle Glasgow event go on sale this week. The show, which will take place at the city’s Ovo Hydro is the latest international PPV, following hot on the heels of shows in Germany, France, Australia and Puerto Rico.
This new policy of bringing iconic PPVs to international fans has seen WWE continually break records on gate sales, merchandise and more and, Uso says, is also a popular move with the wrestlers themselves.
He explained: “International events like this 100% feel different. The fans are fired up in a different way to US fans who get us every week. Here when people come out, everyone shows up. It’s on fire.”
British wrestling fans keen to join the fun can get tickets for Scotland’s first ever pay per view this week, with the first tickets for WWE’s Clash at the Castle Glasgow going live tomorrow (Wednesday).
How to get tickets for WWE Clash at the Castle Glasgow
WWE’s Clash at the Castle 2024 will be held at the OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow on Saturday, June 15 2024, with Friday Night Smackdown also being held there the night before. Fans will be able to buy two night tickets to attend both shows, with their seat of choice being where they will watch the action on both nights.
Previously, WWE has split out unsold tickets at the last minute for individual nights close to the date of the show. However, with the relatively small size of the venue compared to both Clash at the Castle in Cardiff and last autumn's London Money in the Bank, WWE fans who want to be totally sure they'll get to see the groundbreaking event should probably book a double ticket rather than risk disappointment if single ones don’t later become available.
