Dan Walker makes statement about 'kindness' after Channel 5 probe into his conduct

Presenter Dan Walker shared a thoughtful statement about 'being kind' after being cleared of serious conduct allegations following a workplace probe at Channel 5.

The star, 47, was "completely exonerated” following the HR-led investigation into a multi-pronged complaint by a colleague in the media which prompted network bosses to launch the probe. A Channel 5 spokesman said last month: “ITN commissioned an independent external expert to investigate these allegations but none were upheld.”

A spokesman for ITN also released a statement announcing: “We take such claims incredibly seriously. To ensure fairness and impartiality, we appointed an independent external consultant and they have concluded their investigation. Given our ongoing duty of care, we won’t be commenting further.”

In a new post, Dan took to his social media to share a quote. The TV presenter said: "When you win, be kind. When you are upset, be kind. When you are ignored, be kind. When you are in doubt, be kind. When you are disappointed, be kind. Always be kind. Even if no one is looking."

Fans took to the comment section to agree with his statement, with one user posting: "And be kind to yourself!!!" and another writing: "Very good advice." Another fan posted: "Love this!" Dan joined Channel 5 News after leaving BBC Breakfast in April 2022 and is reportedly earning £500,000 a year.

In a recent Instagram Q&A, Dan discussed whether he would ever return to BBC Breakfast. He presented the show for six years before switching to Channel 5 News. When a fan asked him if he missed his old job and would ever consider returning to the Beeb, the father-of-three issued a harsh two-word reply.

Replying to the enquirer during a live Instagram exchange, the Strictly Come Dancing star shared a snap of himself and former co-star, Sally Nugent, with the caption: "I miss my friends...but no," followed by a laughing emoji. In April 2022, Dan announced he was quitting the BBC on X, formerly Twitter, saying it was a hard decision after a 13-year career at the channel.

However, he explained that he had been faced with an offer he couldn't refuse. Dan told viewers it had been "a real privilege" to present the primetime show, explaining: "It's always been my dream to do a job like this. It feels a bit surreal I won't be sitting on the sofa anymore."
