Tom Brady is facing a couple of hiccups in his bid to become part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Washington Post claims that NFL owners are unlikely to vote on Brady's bid in the upcoming annual meetings. This means the former New England Patriots quarterback will have to wait a bit longer to realise his dream of owning another sports team.

Brady's potential involvement with the Raiders was first announced just a few months after he retired following the 2022 season. However, some reports suggest the deal was agreed while he was still playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But there was a snag when the NFL introduced a rule preventing owners from giving shares to employees.

Raiders owner Mark Davis, who is good friends with Brady, is believed to be offering him 10 per cent of his ownership. This is said to be a much lower deal than it's worth, which could upset other owners by potentially lowering the value of stakes in teams.

Brady's potential ownership has hit a few bumps in the road. He's set to become a sports analyst this season after signing a 10-year deal to become an analyst for Fox. Usually, commentators and analysts don't have stakes in specific teams, even though they can visit training camps and chat with players and coaches before games. Teams are unlikely to want a rival owner hanging around.

Brady is already in business with Davis, as he's part-owner of the Las Vegas Aces, a basketball team that competes in the WNBA. Before surprising everyone by announcing he would become a part-owner of Birmingham City, Brady invested in a pickleball team. Since joining the Blues in August, the NFL legend has been spotted at two of their games.

After retiring from professional football in 2022, Brady has mentioned several times that he'd like to own part of a team. Right now, he's getting ready to become an analyst for the upcoming NFL season.

"I’ve got a big broadcasting job that’s going to start in September," Brady said on his Let's Go podcast in January. "I’m already working hard on trying to make sure I’m ready for that opportunity, and I’m prepared mentally and emotionally for that challenge.

"Because it is a challenge. It’s something that’s new, it’s outside of my comfort zone. And I’m excited to get out there and try something and see how I do."
