Gareth Southgate’s England team will start their journey towards Euro 2024 with a stern test against the five-time World Cup winners Brazil.

The South Americans are 14/5 underdogs to test the depth and quality of an England team, priced at 10/11 to win, only three months out from a competition they are considered one of the favourites in.

The tag as one of the outright winners for the competition has stemmed from an impressive qualification campaign for the tournament, with the top spot of Group C being cemented as England remained unbeaten.

With the Brazil Friendly acting as one of two games for Southgate to use before he picks his team for Euro 2024 in May, both staff and players will no doubt see this as a final opportunity to see individuals try and make a statement.

Some late fitness tests will be required for England, especially after the prolific Harry Kane limped off for Bayern Munich in his latest game for the German side. England’s all-time top scorer is still at 15/4 odds of scoring first should he come through as fit to play.

Bellingham’s Real Madrid teammate, Vinicius Junior, is one to watch should he feature for the side. At 7/5 to score or assist, or 13/5 to score anytime, the winger is almost guaranteed to be at the heart of any attacking positives for Brazil.

Tottenham forward Richarlison is well acclimatised to England and its players, which could well see him shine at Wembley at 15/2 odds to score first. Another Real Madrid player in Rodrygo will be prominent in creating chances, who is backed at 7/4 to score or set up one of his teammates.

Having been winless in four, which has included three-straight losses in their past three games against Argentina, Columbia and Uruguay, Brazil will be eager to taste a first win since beating Peru 1-0 back in September 2023.

It could require some South American magic to see Brazil claim a huge win against England at Wembley. Given that the last competitive game staged Ronaldinho’s unbelievable free kick goal that looped over David Seamen at the 2002 World Cup, the likes of Vinicius Jr and Richarlison could look to be heroes.

Whatever the outcome, the two sides come together for the 27th meeting, with Brazil unsurprisingly the greater in terms of head-to-head wins. England, however, enter this fixture with the greater momentum.
