Michael Jackson's mother Katherine Jackson is alleged to have amassed an eye-watering $55 million (£43.7m) over the nearly 15 years since her son tragically died.

According to reports, the estate of Michael Jackson claims that Katherine gets a substantial monthly allowance totaling more than $160K (£123K) per month. According to the estate, she is also alleged to get other cash payments, with her monthly allowance totaling $33 million (£26.2m) of the $55m (£43.7m) total, over the last 15 years.

This comes after a representative for the estate confirmed to US site TMZ that they have filed legal documents amid their ongoing dispute with Michael's mother over attorney's fees that she wants the estate to foot the bill for.

Michael's vast estate is now thought to be worth $111 million (£87m). When he died, it was sent to a trust, and to this day, his family are still fighting over it. The pop icon's final will was filed years prior to his death, with the final version filed in 2002. The King of Pop sadly died years later on June 25, 2009.

There had previously been arguments over his will after multiple editions were filed over the years. But all versions stated his interests were placed into the "Michael Jackson Family Trust".

Michael's wishes were that 20 percent of his estate would go to charity and the remainder would be split between a lifetime trust for Michael's mum Katherine Jackson, as well as a trust for his children. After Katherine's death, any remaining funds would go to his children.

But earlier this week it was revealed that Blanket and his grandmother "were recently working together to stop the executors of [Michael] Jackson's estate from going through with a huge business transaction that they were very much so against".

According to TMZ based on recent reporting, "it seems like it may be related to the deal the estate made with Sony to sell about half of Michael's music catalogue for $600M".

The outlet reports that, in the documents, 22-year-old Blanket - who is known as Bigi - explains how he and his grandmother presented their arguments opposing the deal, with the court then ruling against them and closing the case. But now Katherine has decided to appeal the ruling, and Blanket doesn't agree, nor does he want his father's estate paying for her legal bills.

The recent reports on the new legal documents also state that Blanket says he doesn't think appealing the case "truly benefits the beneficiaries of the trust", and doesn't believe his father's estate should pay for it. He has also asked the court to use its best judgment to grant his grandmother "reasonable attorney's fees incurred from the pre-appeal battle".
