This is the sweet moment Princess Eugenie read to children at a special event in the capital - two days before her birthday.

Eugenie, who is 11th in line to the throne, celebrated turning 34 today - though it was likely a bittersweet occasion following Princess of Wales' cancer announcement on Friday.

In the build-up, mum-of-two Eugenie read to a group of children at Elephant Family’s Little Egg Hunt, an event at Sloane Square, Central London. She was snapped addressing the kids, all wearing their school uniform, at the interactive egg hunt. The attraction is a large-scale scavenger hunt of 12 giant decorated eggs in aid of the Elephant Family Charity.

Although Eugenie, like her older sister Princess Beatrice, is not a working member of the Royal Family, there have been calls lately for this to change as Kate and King Charles remained out of action due to their cancer battles.

Eugenie's charity The Anti-Slavery Collective, which she co-founded in 2017, took to Instagram to celebrate the royal's birthday. The charity captioned the post saying: "From the team, we wish a joyful Birthday to HRH Princess Eugenie.

"As we celebrate the special day, we reflect on her impactful role as a Force for Freedom. Her commitment to combating modern slavery shines brightly through her involvement with the Anti-Slavery Collective Fundraising Gala Event, captured beautifully by @Hollyclarkphotography at the Battersea Arts Centre.

The Princess of Wales has been met with a huge outpouring of support after she bravely delivered the news of her cancer diagnosis in an emotional video to the public.

Kate, 42, said: "In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.

"My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment."
