A woman was rushed to the hospital shortly after posting a photo on social media as other users urged her to get checked quickly.

A Reddit user called "Nerdlifegirl" shared a photo in a forum called "Mildly Interesting" showing her pupils were of different sizes. The image was seen by thousands of people on the website and many appeared concerned that the woman could have a serious health issue.

Someone warned it could be a sign of a stroke or A retina issue, infection, or a neurological problem. Many told the Reddit user to go to the hospital immediately to rule out any serious health issue.

A person wrote: "You may have a medical issue that should be addressed." One added: "Unequal pupil sizes may indicate head injury, tumors or infection - basically anything that could cause inflammation and increased intracranial pressure. A certain portion of the population has a benign condition known as anisocoria, which causes unequal pupil dilation and is no reason for concern."

Someone said: "You need to see a doctor for real." An emergency room doctor commented: "ER doc here. This isn't really a sign of a stroke, though an aneurysm rarely could cause this. OP do you use any anticholinergic medications like scopolamine patches or sweat control wipes? The latter is by far the most common cause of this.

"I often see it in people who get a bit of the medication in their eye on accident. It's more unnerving than it is dangerous. Obviously see a doctor though."

The social media user said she "freaked out" after reading many comments, so her fiancé came home from work to take her to the hospital. After a few hours, she gave an update saying that after an EKG, a CT, and some blood tests, doctors diagnosed her with anisocoria.

The medical term indicates when one of your pupils is bigger than the other, explains Cleveland Clinic. The clinic says this might affect your vision if one pupil cannot adjust to light like it should, and you might have trouble seeing clearly, or be sensitive to light in your affected eye.

The clinic advises patients to visit an eye care specialist or go to the emergency room if you notice one of your pupils is suddenly larger than the other. It adds: "Some people develop anisocoria with no long-term complications, but it can also be a sign of a life-threatening medical emergency. If you have other symptoms, like pain or noticeably worse vision, go to your nearest emergency room."

The Reddit user added: "The good news? No stroke, no aneurysm, no cancer. Also, I’m also sadly not David Bowie. They don’t know why I have it, but it’s nothing obviously serious. Even though I’m dreading the upcoming bill, no regrets about going in. It could have been serious and I have a wedding to plan and I really am so excited to marry my fiancé. I think I’ll call out of work today and watch The Man Who Fell To Earth."
