Megan announced the tragic news via Instagram and shared: "The best mom in the whole world.

That same month, Holly's death coincided with her grandmother's passing.
She later confessed to fans: "This year, I lost my mom and my grandmother in the same month.
"Although all these positive things have been happening to me, and I’ve been trying to do good, been trying to keep a smile on my face, stay strong, to stay happy for me and my other grandmother and the rest of my family...it’s pretty hard.
"I just wanted to spread some positivity and tell ya’ll to stay positive, stay kind through your hard times because the pain doesn’t last forever."
Megan often cites her late mother as her main musical influence.
"I knew I wanted to be a rapper when I was, like, five," the Hissed hitmaker told Essence.
"My mom was a rapper. I would go to the studio with her and that definitely showed me I can do this. I want to do this."

On February 15, 2022, Megan launched the Pete and Thomas Foundation.
The Pete and Thomas Foundation is a community outreach program that assists families with education, housing, and health and wellness needs.
The organization was named in honor of Holly and Joseph.
The company operates in many US locations including Houston, New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
In a press release, she stated: "Launching the Pete and Thomas Foundation is easily one of the most significant endeavors that I'll ever be part of in my career.
"My family raised me to help others and give back, so I'm incredibly proud to be in a position to accomplish that goal.
"I have a responsibility to use my platform to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those who may not have access to resources and support services."
