Cleaning fans have shared the perfect hack to tackle hard water stains.

You are probably fighting a losing battle with the limescale. Limescale is made up of calcium and magnesium which is left behind after the hard water evaporates.

Atlantic Blue Water Centre reports that limescale can do serious damage to your home; the minerals in the water can accumulate in plumbing systems and put pressure on pipes - making it harder for water to push through. The white chalky deposit often builds up on shower heads, around taps and on shower screens inside appliances. It can be a nightmare; it is difficult to remove and makes appliances work slowly because of build-up.

Cleaning enthusiasts have shared an "amazing" cost-effective hack to help deal with removing limescale. The £3.50 limescale remover spray from Tesco is said to remove "heavy" build-up of limescale and do the heavy lifting in the cleaning process removing hard water stains reports

Arguably the most common place for limescale build-up is around the shower head but the go-to spray HG Limescale remover has been revealed by cleaning whizzes to be just the thing for the job. The cleaning spray can be bought from , , and .

Posting to social media, one struggling woman posted on Facebook: "How do I clean this shower head, please? Just moved into this property and I have many cleaning questions ahead. Thanks in advance." Helen's shower head had white, crusty deposits stuck in the nozzles and on the stainless steel.

Parts of the nozzles had turned black because of the amount of limescale stuck in them. The post was inundated with responses but the most suggested method for removing the limescale was HG Limescale Remover.

Claire Griss said: "It should unscrew. HG Limescale Remover is good for heavy limescale."

Whilst the spray is great at tackling built-up limescale, another cleaning whizz has shared her everyday trick to prevent things from getting so bad in the first place. A mum who told TikTok she shared the hack on YouTube 10 years ago said that those battling limescale simply need to perform this step every time they have a shower.

The mum was using a dish-matic which which can be purchased from Ocado for £1, with refills available from B&M for £3. Inside she’d mixed a concoction of "half Dawn, half vinegar," and then she left it in the shower caddy.

Dawn soap is not freely available in the UK, but an alternative is Fairy Liquid, which can be bought from Poundland for £1, or Ocado for £1.50. Distilled vinegar can be purchased from Tesco for 35p.

The mum said: "After I'm done taking a shower, I clean the shower, so there are no deep cleaning shower days." Being proactive about limescale build-up means not having to bring out chemical sprays once the build-up has happened, but it can be harder to keep up with.
