The late hunk suddenly vanished from Albert Square following an explosive Christmas and it was revealed to residents that he had fled the Walford borough after attacking Nish Panesar.

But what nobody apart from BBC One viewers knew is that Keanu had, in fact, been killed by Linda Carter as she was trying to save Sharon Watts from being strangled to death.

Moments prior, Keanu had walked into the Vic to find Sharon, Linda, Suki Panesar, Denise Fox, Stacey Slater and Kathy Beale standing above an unconscious Nish Panesar.

The villainous businessman had been bottled over the head by Denise after he had struck Linda in the face while trying to stop his wife Suki from leaving him for Eve Unwin.

Following Keanu's death, the six matriarchs put the matter to rest by secretly burying him underneath Kathy's café.

And while they've been able to dodge certain questions about Keanu's disappearance and Nish's attack, some of them have been spiralling, overwhelmed by guilt.

Denise Fox (played by Diane Parish) was sectioned in recent scenes of the London-based program while Linda (Kellie Bright) had a relapse and turned to booze, once again.

Coming up next week, Linda nurses a hangover in The Vic before the family are interrupted by a surprise visitor as Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) finally returns from Australia.

Upstairs, it’s tense between the pair as Linda worries that Sharon is angry with her following the events of Christmas.

Instead, Sharon panics when she learns that the meat thermometer, which Linda used to stab Keanu in the back, has gone missing.

She is then horrified to learn that Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff), Linda's son, knows about what really happened at Christmas.

Sharon calls a crisis meeting, terrified everything could be coming to a head for the Six.

Later on, Linda is shocked when she is unexpectedly presented with the meat thermometer and chaos ensues at The Vic.

However, the women are soon relieved to know the murder weapon has been found and Sharon agrees to dump it.

Unbeknownst to them, the floor in the café has just caved in, threatening to expose all of their secrets... and Denise's necklace, linking her to the crime.

Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota) is shocked to learn about a crack in the café floor and tries to get an emergency builder to fix it - but how will his mother Suki (Balvinder Sopal) react?

Will she try to stop him to prevent her part in Keanu's murder from coming to light?

While this remains to be seen, Sharon faces a tough conversation with Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) who found out he was the father of her son Albie Watts prior to Keanu's disappearance.

Sharon is stopped in her tracks by her former husband who demands answers and access to the young boy.

Back at No.43, Sharon's conflict with Phil over Albie is pushed to the side as news that the café floor has caved in reaches her via text.

Mortified, Sharon orders Phil to leave as he threatens legal action against her.

As the women anxiously await their fate, Sharon later has a change of heart and tells Phil he can have access to Albie.

Aware that her time of freedom may be coming to an end, Sharon also makes him promise to be there for their son - will Phil put two and two together?

Elsewhere, Denise’s happy mood comes crashing down when Linda and Suki reveal the bad news about the café floor.

Suki tries to intervene with Vinny’s plans to relay the floor, but soon relents to avoid suspicion.

A panicked Denise packs a bag to leave Walford, knowing she could be an immediate suspect due to losing her necklace while burying Keanu.

She is surprisingly stopped by Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) who convinces her against and agrees to help retrieve the missing necklace.

After stealing Bernie Taylor's café keys from No.1, they break in but are interrupted by Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) who demands answers.

Will they tell him everything?

Later on, Walford is rife with gossip as the residents speculate about the body found in the café.

The identity of the body is soon discovered by the authorities as they rock up Sharon's home with plenty of questions for her about the events that unfolded on Christmas Day.

Will she manage to convince them she is innocent?

Or will she grass on her accomplices?

EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
