Meghan Markle's new lifestyle brand will sell a wide range of products

Meghan Markle 's new brand is said to be selling a wide range of products, but chicken feed will have come as a surprise to many.

The Duchess of Sussex's American Riviera Orchard lifestyle brand was announced earlier this month as Meghan returned to Instagram. The company's Instagram account bio reads simply: "by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex⁣⁣⁣," and the page's description also states the business was "established" in 2024, with a link to its website, americanriviera.com.

While many were interested to see it will be selling a wide range of home goods, including edible treats like jellies, jams and spreads and tableware staples such as cutlery, table linens and drinkware, the apparent inclusion of chicken and dog food is relatively surprising.

As Meghan lodged papers to trademark the initials of her new enterprise American Riviera Orchard, she is also said to have filed documents to sell the chicken feed, according to the Sun. The publication claims the brand has trademarked ARO for “Pet food; Edible pet treats; Bird seed”.

In their Montecito mansion, Harry and Meghan own a rescue beagle called Mamma Mia and also a coop of chickens at their home. They recently confirmed they had taken in pal Ellen DeGeneres' chicken to their £12million home.

The rescue chicken, which is called Sinkie, once belonged to iconic US talk show but moved in with the Sussexes in January. It was said Sinkie had to be re-homed because the other chickens that she resided with were bullying her. Ellen shared the news on social media recently and gave her fans an update on the chicken shortly after.

Filming a video and talking in the background while doing so, Ellen said at the time: "Sinkie’s leg is fixed but our chickens were still picking on her so she had to be re-homed.

"Luckily our friends Harry and Meghan’s coop had room for one more. Not sure yet what her royal title will be," she joked.

Ellen lives nearby to Harry and Meghan and last June she bought and restored an estate in the sought-after neighbourhood of Montecito.
