Nikki Sanderson became a household name 12 years ago when she made her Hollyoaks debut as the firm fan favourite Maxine Minniver - but some soap watchers were still completely unaware of how old the actress really was.
In a post shared on her official Instagram account on Tuesday, Nikki's followers were left with their jaws dropped when she revealed that her thirties were well and truly over as she prepares to celebrate her 40th birthday on Thursday (March 28).
The former Coronation Street showed herself in the comfort of her own home, flaunting the benefits of a Supergreens drink from health and beauty company BoxedOff and showing off her flawless skin and locks.
"Two sleeps till the big 4 0 so I’m keeping my nutrition on point and starting my forties strong", she captioned and the revelation left many social media users in disbelief as they were amazed by her ageless appearance.
Her flabbergasted followers were quick to respond and they showered Nikki with compliments with one of them writing: "I am so shocked you are nearly 40! I would never had said you were that, I even had to check it on google! I’d say 30 but never 40. Looking good lady."
Kylie Jenner goes braless in mesh catsuit for new snaps on New Year's Eve"Can’t believe your going to be 40! So gorgeous", another gushed as a third fan chimed in: "You will be the best looking 40+ year old on the planet, Nikki."
Nikki also received a heartfelt comment from her Hollyoaks co-star, Ross Adams, aka Scott Drinkwell, who simply responded to her post with: "Beauty x."
They were then joined by Nikki's off-screen partner, former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks actor Anthony Quinlan, who was just as awestruck as her many fans and the ex-Pete Barton actor penned: "My beaut, stunning."
Nikki and Anthony confirmed their romance after years of friendship in 2022 with the latter revealing the love story had started, like many other relationships in the modern age, when he messaged his other half on Instagram.
"I slid into the DMs and that was it. I was lucky enough to get a date and the rest is history," he told The Sun, adding: "All I can say is I'm really, really happy and she's a very special girl. She's lovely."
The Salford-born actor, who is not only known for his stint in Yorkshire-based program Emmerdale but also for portraying Gilly Roach in Hollyoaks, had then admitted he preferred to keep the relationship private but insisted he was "happy that it is what it is."
Nikki then had a chat with The Mirror in May, 2022, during the Pride of Manchester Awards and stuck to the secrecy her beau wished to keep around their relationship.
"You know what, we are very happy and like you said, we are quite private so I won't talk too much about it, but we are very happy", she stated before praising her partner herself: "He's such a wonderful guy and I'm very lucky."
