The family of Emily Willis have offered an emotional update on the porn star's condition following her cardiac arrest.

The adult film star, 25, was rushed to hospital in critical condition in February after police in Thousand Oaks, California responded to an emergency call. Now, her family have revealed they are hopeful she is on the road to recovery after initially preparing themselves for the worst.

Emily's dad, Michael, revealed that the star remains in a vegetative state, but noted there have been notable improvements.

Speaking to TMZ, he said his daughter - whose real name is Litzy Lara Banulos -is now awake and able to track things with her eyes and smile. He said she has also become emotional during conversations.

Michael also claimed the family are hopeful they will soon be able to relocate Emily to a medical facility closer to their home in Utah. They say doing so will help reduce their mounting medical bills.

He previously told the publication that the star had been in rehab at a well known celebrity centre in Malibu for a little more than a week before going into cardiac arrest during treatment. Doctors told the family that there were no drugs in Emily's system, meaning she did not have an overdose that led her to being hospitalised.

The family had initially set up a GoFundMe page in a bid to help with the financial burden and quickly raised more than their $60,000 (£47,500) target. Donations currently stand at $65,000 (£51,500). On the page, her younger brother, also called Michael, wrote that his sister was facing "an incredibly tough and unforeseen battle."

According to the page at the time, Emily was fighting "with every ounce of her remarkable strength and bravery." Michael continued to say the family is being affected emotionally, physically, and financially.

He went on to thank everyone for any donation "no matter its size." Insurance helps, but Emily's bank accounts are locked and the family can't access them since they aren't the beneficiaries.

The earlier statement ended: "Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers to give her the strength for recovery. Sharing this campaign far and wide also offers invaluable support, helping us reach hearts and hands that might lift us in our time of need."
