Naga Munchetty has revealed the one rule she always sticks by at home with her rarely-seen husband.

The BBC Breakfast presenter revealed she's very strict about her night time eating habits at the Hertfordshire home she shares with husband James Haggar and their two cats.

She said: "I never eat after six at night. I’m disciplined about snacking but I’ll have one or two squares of dark chocolate and a glass of wine in front of the television with my husband."

Naga has very early starts from Thursday to Saturday as co-host of BBC Breakfast with Charlie Stayt. The presenter, who also hosts on BBC Radio 5 Live, revealed she wakes up at 3.45am on the days she's on BBC Breakfast.

However, she admitted she's less strict about her bedtime. She added to The Times: "I go to bed about 10.30 and listen to Today in Parliament, a rugby podcast or dig into a Times long read. I drift off at midnight and sleep like the dead."

Naga's husband James keeps out of the spotlight but also has an impressive broadcasting career. He works as a television director and broadcast consultant, and for 10 years he worked as a senior director for CNBC International before joining Sky.

He was the senior director on Five News/OK TV for seven years before spending two years at the ITV Studios. Naga previously opened up on why she and her husband decided not to have children.

Naga, who has the womb condition adenomyosis, explained: "We never tried and I never miscarried, we just never really wanted them. We kept putting the decision off, then life got better for us, we became more selfish... and just didn’t find the time.”

Elsewhere, Naga cheekily told her co-star weather presenter Carol Kirkwood she was "of no importance" to her. On Thursday, Naga presented BBC Breakfast with Ben Thompson, who was stepping in for Charlie Stayt.

Meteorologist Carol was flustered after presenting the latest weather report and forgot the presenter's name. Signing off from her morning forecast, Carol said: "Ben and...," and paused before adding: "Naga!" To which Naga replied: "Oh you remembered..Well done."

Carol hit back: "How could I forget?" Naga turned to co-host Ben and quipped: "She's of no importance Ben, she's none, she's just the showgirl."

"Write it on your hand next time Carol. Write it on your hand it always helps," Naga joked as Carol added: "If only my eyesight was better I could write it on the screen in front of me."

"I thought you were going to say if only you can write," Naga jibed as Ben quipped: "We will have to keep you two apart."
