Elvis Presley's granddaughter Riley Keough is said to be "living with ghosts" following her family tragedies as she tries to save her late mum's legacy and deals with legal woes.

The 35-year-old "Daisy Jones & The Six" star has had to go through her mother Lisa Marie's old tapes and notebooks while working on her autobiography, which will be released on October 15. A celebration will reportedly be held at Graceland, the Presley family's estate where Riley's mum, her grandfather, and brother Benjamin Keough were laid to rest.

A source familiar with the book said the actress went through "hundreds of hours of Lisa's thoughts and dreams" while working on the book. The insider said Riley wants to frame the autobiography, whose title is not known yet, in an "accurate and compassionate way" and explained how it's like the star has been living with ghosts.

Riley was described by the source as "a super busy actress, producer and mum", with the insider telling Page Six : "She's not only had to listen to her mom's thoughts, but has to decide how to package that into this book … It's a Herculean effort. She's going to have a lot of input on how people perceive Lisa's legacy forever. That's how difficult this is."

Meanwhile, the actress is also dealing with complex family legal issues - and last month, Graceland was set to go up for auction as Lisa Marie had failed to pay back a $3.8million (£3million) loan, according to court documents. Riley, who is now the sole heir to the property, sued to protect the estate, alleging she was being drawn into a foreclosure scam.

Riley has also tried to keep a good relationship with her grandmother, Priscilla Presley, who had contested the "authenticity and validity" of Lisa Marie's will after her death. Eventually, Riley agreed to pay her grandmother a lump sum of $1million (£800,000) and $400,000 (£314,000) in legal fees so she would become the only owner of the estate.

The pair reunited at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards earlier this year, and after the event insiders said they have "really turned the page" and have come together in grief. Sources said: "They really turned the page and are on good terms right now. It was a heartbreaking few months for them."

"But they are both happy they are able to now lean on each other and mourn Lisa Marie together," the insider told The Messenger. "They don't want to discuss the legal battle any further and are happy they are able to move on. Riley feels less stressed and is grateful the tension between her and Priscilla has subsided."
