easyJet passengers chant 'na na na na, goodbye' couple after emergency landing

Footage captures easyJet passengers celebrating after a couple who allegedly caused a disturbance on their flight were ejected.

Tourists are seen chanting "cheerio" at the couple, who it is said became disruptive and abusive to other passengers before turning on staff on flight EZY3165 from Glasgow to Hurghada, Egypt.

It had to be diverted to Heraklion, Greece, due to the alleged behaviour last night. Local police then escorted the couple off the aircraft, at which point passengers on the rowdy flight are pictured chanting "cheerio, cheerio" and "na na na na, goodbye".

Michael McLennan, who was travelling for a holiday, said: "It was awful. They were arguing with other passengers for half an hour before the crew stepped in.

"They were being verbally abusive and threatening to the cabin crew. They eventually announced we were doing an emergency landing in Greece. The woman was told to sit down seven times over the tannoy as we landed but she kept getting up."

Images shared on the Flight Aware website showed the flight travelling past Greece before doing a loop and travelling back to Heraklion as the situation got out of control.

It's understood the two passengers were arrested by police in Greece following the incident. After the pair were removed the flight continued on to Hurghada, where it landed two hours later than scheduled at around midnight.

A spokesperson for the airline told Daily Record: "easyJet can confirm that flight EZY3165 from Glasgow to Hurghada on April 29 diverted to Heraklion where the aircraft was met by police due to two passengers behaving disruptively onboard. The flight then continued to Hurghada once the passengers were removed.

“easyJet’s cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time.

“Whilst such incidents are rare we take them very seriously and do not tolerate disruptive behaviour onboard. The safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew is always easyJet's highest priority.” Hellenic Police has been asked for comment by Daily Record.
