Sally Phillips has dropped a huge hint that the upcoming Bridget Jones movie could be the franchise's crowning glory.

The beloved 54-year-old star is set to return as Bridget's irrepressible pal Shazzer in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. She has been bigging up the fourth instalment, promising it's more than just a sentimental throwback. Sally spilled: "The script might be the best yet definitely not just a trip down nostalgia lane."

The actress counts her blessings for being part of the Bridget Jones legacy, especially since she's had a blast working alongside James Callis and Shirley Henderson, who portray Tom and Jude. She reminisced about the good times with Red Magazine as she said: "In those films, the friends always have the best time because you've got people to hang out with."

Sally recalled the fun of night shoots and added: "There's a lot of night shoots when you're just eating chocolate 'til four in the morning, then running past in the back of shot." The star also shared how she, James, and Shirley are always in stitches on set and "laugh ourselves sick".

Her enthusiasm is matched by Hugh Grant, who's making a comeback as the roguish Daniel Cleaver. Hugh, who was absent from the third movie Bridget Jones' Baby' gushed to Entertainment Tonight: "I'll tell you what, I think this script for the fourth Bridget is the best one of the four. And, in fact, one of the best scripts I have read for in a long time."

The next chapter will see Renee Zellweger's Bridget grappling with widowhood and single motherhood after Mark Darcy's (Colin Firth) demise, with Hugh admitting the script's emotional richness took him by surprise. He shared: "It's based on trying to bring up two children alone, and then [it's] all mixed up in the Bridget Jones comedy, so it is very sad, as well as very funny. It has me in tears."

The cast has been spotted in recent weeks filming the new movie across London. In images exclusively obtained by the Mirror, Renee shot the film's first school run scenes as she was seen walking her on-screen daughter Mabel and son Billy in their uniform. She cut a casual figure in a dressy get-up, covering her clothing in a cream-quilted coat.

Other actors in the frame included one of her upcoming love interests, Mr Walker, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor – also pictured on the capital city production set was actress Leila Farzad. Renee's Bridget was also recently pictured stuck up a tree, while a young park attendant rushed to rescue her in other movie scenes. Her other love interest is One Day star Leo Woodall, who plays Rockstar - Bridget's new toyboy in the new upcoming film.

In scenes reminiscent of the infamous fireman's pole incident - where TV reporter Bridget famously flashed her bum while being filmed sliding down one in a fire station - the new film sees her scale a tree while trying to reach a stranded child in Hampstead Heath, North London.
