Where is The Responder filmed?

Just like season one, the second series of The Responder is also set in the city of Liverpool.

To keep the show true to it's plot, the series was also filmed there as well.

Crews were spotted in September 2023 filming scenes with The Responder's leading man Martin Freeman in Merseyside Street.

The drama centres around the actor's character, a troubled cop called Chris Carson, who attempts to take down a dangerous Merseyside drug ring.

The Hollywood star was seen shooting scenes in the local area, alongside Adelayo Adedayo.

Filming also took place on Strathcona Road in Wavertree.

According to the Liverpool Echo, a letter from production company Dancing Ledge was sent to residents in the area to let them know about filming.

It read: "After a successful and fulfilling relationship with Liverpool during the filming of series one we are incredibly excited to be returning to the city, and we are looking forward to showcasing more of Merseyside."

Leading actress Adelayo was also spotted shooting a scene which saw her sitting on a police car having a conversation.

A local Liverpudlian called Mike previously revealed how his home was used for the interior shots of Martin's character Chris' home.

The man posted online: “I can actually say Martin Freeman slept in my bed."

Although he added: “They actually bought a new bed which we kept, so maybe I should say I slept in his!”

Following a successful first series, The Responder is back for a second season.

Series two joins Chris Carson six months on with him attempting to rebuild his life, his relationships, and desperate to avoid the corruption that nearly sucked him under.

Speaking about why he loves being part of The Responder cast, actor Martin told the BBC: "We were all excited by the first series and hoped what we were making was a good show.

"There are a few times in your life, if you're lucky, when people connect with something you've made in a way that goes beyond your dreams or what you could have wished for.

"I really believed in the show and felt it was a very good piece of work.

"It’s one of the most successful things I've worked on and I knew within reading the first five pages that I wanted to play this character."
