New Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is set to spend the off-season rewatching his new side's old games.

Maresca was officially announced as Chelsea's new head coach on Monday, with the 44-year-old replacing Mauricio Pochettino. The Blues forked out around £8million to buy him out of his contract with Leicester after he guided the Foxes back to Premier League last season.

Maresca is not officially set to start work at Chelsea until July 1 and he is currently away on holiday in Marbella. However, he is already planning for pre-season, with the Daily Mail reporting that he has begun rewatching Chelsea's games under Pochettino.

The report states that Maresca has also asked Chelsea's data team to provide him with detailed performance analysis on every player at the club. "To join Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, is a dream for any coach," he said.

"It is why I am so excited by this opportunity. I look forward to working with a very talented group of players and staff to develop a team that continues the club's tradition of success and makes our fans proud."

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Willy Caballero was Maresca's assistant at Leicester and has followed him to Stamford Bridge, along with coaches Danny Walker and Roberto Vitiello, goalkeeper coach Michele De Bernardin, fitness coach Marcos Alvarez and analyst Javier Molina Caballero.

Ben Roberts, who followed Graham Potter from Brighton to Chelsea in 2022, will remain part of Maresca's staff as a goalkeeper coach. Bernardo Cueva, meanwhile, has joined from Brentford as a set-piece specialist.

"We are delighted to welcome Enzo to Chelsea," Chelsea's co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley added. "He has proven himself to be an excellent coach capable of delivering impressive results with an exciting and identifiable style.

"Enzo has deeply impressed us in our discussions leading up to his appointment. His ambitions and work ethic align with those of the club. We thoroughly look forward to working with him."
