Hollywood actor Tom Cruise was spotted almost stepping into Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's car in London this week.

The Top Gun actor, 61, has been busy travelling around the UK as he films for the latest instalment of his Mission Impossible movie. Most recently, Tom was pictured waving to his fans as he walked towards the car park at London Heliport in Battersea last Wednesday.

Tom rocked a light grey polo shirt and simple black trousers as he stepped towards the black Audi. He tried to open the door before he realised it wasn't the right car. A driver pointed him to the correct vehicle right next to him and opened the door for the A-list actor - who quickly waved at fans before getting into the car.

Hours later, the Prime Minister stepped out into the parking lot and got into the Audi that Tom originally tried to get into. His assistants were seen putting things away in the boot as he quickly darted into the vehicle. The Tory leader was on an election campaign trip to Cornwall and Devon before taking the train to the southwest. He then returned to London by helicopter and arrived at the same heliport Tom was at.

It follows rumours of drama between the actor and his 18-year-old daughter Suri, who Tom shares with his ex-wife Katie Holmes. Tom didn't attend the teen's birthday and opted to stay in London for filming, as well as attending his famous friend Victoria Beckham's bash instead.

In early May, it was announced that Tom's daughter had officially ditched her dad's surname as she adopted a quiet life away from any connection to the Hollywood actor. The duo have reportedly had a strained relationship for years and Suri's decision to drop her 'Cruise' surname is thought to be a moment of rebellion, according to a US psychiatrist.

In an exclusive interview with the Mirror, expert Carole Lieberman M.D. explained: "Children ‘drop’ their last name to rebel against their parents. They're angry and resentful over some hurt from childhood. When they get older, they get back at their parents by ‘dropping’ them as a way to punish their parents for all the painful memories they’ve held onto and obsessed over for years.

"These memories could be something as seemingly minor as their parent not coming to all their games in high school, or something major like their father divorcing their mother and going on to have another family."
