The honeyed treat — created in Manchester in 1980 — beat classic Kellogg’s cornflakes to the top spot.

About 39million boxes of the nutty variety and 35million boxes of normal cornflakes are produced by the firm in the UK every year.
Coco Pops and Weetabix came third and fourth, while Frosties made up the top five cereals.
