Amazon has dropped the price of its Sky-rivalling Fire TV by a huge £150 in a surprise sale event. Packed with the high-spec features of Alexa and shiny 4K ultra-high-definition pixels, the 43-inch series is a fraction of the usual price.

Just last month shoppers would have paid a steep £429.99 for the telly, which can now be picked up for a much cheaper £279.99. The 43-inch model has a vivid 4K display, HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Digital Plus, while there's huge upgrades (from a standard TV) when it comes to hands-free features, the Amazon Fire TV can be controlled with your voice and Alexa.

Like other high-end rivals, a host of popular streaming apps are also available to download and access from the dashboard, making the couple-hundred-pound model act like a smart TV. It's because of this viewers will be able to find their favourites on Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+ from one place.

The biggest discount is on the 43-inch model (which we've highlighted above) or those with a bigger budget to splash the 55-inch device is also reduced - to a new £399.99 price, down from £549.99. Also in the sale is the middle-of-the-range 50-inch model which is now £120 cheaper than before.

Bundled in with its vibrant pictures, quality sound, and Alexa Fire TV remote control, Amazon's smart devices are popular thanks to their 'ease' of putting content together in one place and device compatibility - users can connect three devices at the exact same time, be it a speaker or video console.

Amazon launched its integrated Fire TV sets at the start of 2023, after a successful run with the nifty plug-in Fire Sticks - similarly, these will turn any standard TV with a HDMI port into one resembling a smart device (just ignore the screen quality details as this will depend on the model you have).

It's the ease of asking Alexa to navigate its Fire TVs that has many users dub it similar to rival Sky, be it the Prime retailer on the cheaper site. Its Alexa-powered voice can be compared to the Sky Glass 'Hello Sky' feature on the Sky Glass screen.

Like Amazon, Sky offers users the full cinema experience. Of course, this is boosted by its Sky Cinema and Netflix packages but on top of this platforms including Disney+ and Prime Video are just as easy to add to the device as it is on the Fire TV range.

Samsung TV sets are another option for users who want full control with their voice, the press of the mic button on the Samsung remote will do exactly that. The 2023 OLED 65-inch S95C 4K device, which relies on one of its eight speakers to pick up viewers' commands, all you need to do is enable 'Voice Guide'. User can adjust the volume, change the channel, search for their favourite TV series, or turn off your screen as simply as saying it out loud.
