Filming for Bridget Jones' fourth movie has reportedly been thrown into chaos.

A major star on the new film Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy was said to have been rushed to hospital after suffering an injury. It has been reported that the incident halted filming for the movie, meaning it has now had to be pushed back. The accident reportedly happened away from the set of the new film and left a cast member with a broken bone.

It is not yet known when they will be able to return to filming. The cast were due to film at Petersham Nurseries restaurant in Richmond, South West London for a garden party scene, according to reports. A source has since claimed it has been a "total disaster". Filming has been taking place across the capital in recent weeks as Bridget star Renee Zellweger has been seen back in character.

“This has all been so devastating for the entire cast and all the hardworking staff who were down to work," a source told The Sun. “They’d been due to shoot some of the film’s most important scenes and then they suffered this setback after a really unfortunate accident. Filming for the scenes might not start again until at least July, so the schedule has taken a hit."

Renee has been joined by actor Leo Woodhall, who plays her new love interest, while Hugh Grant is also set to make a return as Daniel Cleaver. Sally Phillips will reprise her role as Shazzer in the upcoming movie and has promised it's more than just a sentimental throwback. The actress spilled: "The script might be the best yet definitely not just a trip down nostalgia lane."

She also reflected on being part of the Bridget Jones legacy and working alongside James Callis and Shirley Henderson, who portray Tom and Jude. Sally told Red Magazine: "In those films, the friends always have the best time because you've got people to hang out with."

Sally recalled the fun of night shoots and added: "There's a lot of night shoots when you're just eating chocolate 'til four in the morning, then running past in the back of shot." The star also shared how she, James, and Shirley are always in stitches on set and "laugh ourselves sick".

Hugh Grant, who was absent from the third movie Bridget Jones' Baby, has also gushed to Entertainment Tonight: "I'll tell you what, I think this script for the fourth Bridget is the best one of the four. And, in fact, one of the best scripts I have read for in a long time." The next chapter will see Renee Zellweger's Bridget grappling with widowhood and single motherhood after Mark Darcy's (Colin Firth) demise. Hugh shared: "It's based on trying to bring up two children alone, and then [it's] all mixed up in the Bridget Jones comedy, so it is very sad, as well as very funny. It has me in tears."
