Campaigner Kris Hallenga has died of cancer aged 38 - but has left behind an important message for women across the world.
The British activist, who founded the breast cancer initiative CoppaFeel! was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2009 when she was just 23-years-old. But, the Pride of Britain winner did not let her illness stop her inspiring millions of women and campaigning for change. Some of her incredible achievements include successfully getting cancer education to be included in the school curriculum and writing a bestselling book titled Glittering a Turd.
CoppaFeel! issued a statement following Hallenga's death, announcing her life mission was that the charity she created would no longer need to exist - with the hope that late diagnosis of breast cancer be eradicated in her lifetime. Her final message has also been unveiled, in a post from her beloved cat.
The philanthropist inspired millions (Instagram)"For 15 years Kris had been living with secondary breast cancer," the charity said. "She hasn't lost a battle, she wasn't in a fight and she certainly wouldn't want you to see her death as tragic. She was simply living. She was 38 and died with fulfilment and a heart full of love.
"Please remember the amazing life Kris led and the things she achieved, but above all else honour her memory by checking your chest…it could just save your life."

Adding to the stream of tributes praising Hallenga for her life's work was none other than her furry friend Lady Marmalde. In a touching snap of the shared on Instagram, the activist's final message was revealed.

"Dearest followers of my human, Kris. It's Lady Marmalade here," the post read. "I wanted to share the sad news with you all that my favourite person in the whole world has died.
"Whilst I'm sad that I no longer get to cuddle her and that she's no longer here to feed me, I want you to know that I will be OK. I've lots of lovely human friends looking after me. There's one that looks and sounds just like Kris. She will do."
The post added that Hallenga's final message to women across the globe would: "Be one that probably involved checking your chest, getting in some cold water, talking more about death and dying, that even the turdiest of turds are glitterable, that you should always see the silly side of life, that she LOVED her life and that giving Neighbours 2.0 is worth another chance."
Symptoms of breast cancer
According to the NHS, the main symptom of breast cancer in women is a lump or swelling in your breast, chest, or armpit. The medical body stresses the importance of checking your breasts regularly so you know 'what's normal for you', urging Brits to look out for the following:
- A change in the skin of your breast. This may include dimpling or redness.
- Nipple discharge - if you're not pregnant or breastfeeding which may have blood in it
- A change in size or shape of one or both breasts
- Pain in your breast or armpit which doesn't go away
- A change in the shape or look of your nipple. This may include inverted nipples or a rash/
