How do you text? Do you like to write everything down in one long message, or do you prefer short sentences – a stream of consciousness? Both can say a lot about your personality but one couple has sparked a heated debate after a man revealed it was his wife’s texting style at fault for the reason he missed instructions.
Looking for support on who is in the wrong, she shared their hilarious exchange on social media. She wrote: “My husband thinks it’s unreasonable to expect him to read multiple messages in a row. He thinks only the last one counts. I disagree. Who is right?”
She continued: “Since the beginning of our relationship, I have been frustrated by my husband frequently only responding to, or ‘seeing’ the last text I send him. For example, if I were to text him ‘hey can you check the front door is locked?’ Then follow it with a text that says ‘how does pasta for dinner sound?’ He would respond to the pasta text and ignore the door text. I end up having to double-check or send multiple texts frequently.”
Discussing their issue, she revealed that when she brings it up with him he says she can only expect him to see what shows up on the Lock Screen. She went on: We have a baby now and are both tired and grumpy and this has gone from making me annoyed to feeling rage and he will snap at me to get off his ass.
“I have told him it’s standard to read UP until his last response. I asked my sister what she does and she agreed with me and seemed to think it was a no-brainer. Who is correct? My husband or me?” Adding more context, she revealed that she and her husband are both ‘string texters’ and issue only four or five one-liners at a time.
'My wife wants to change our four-year-old's name but I think it is too late'The provocative question lit a fire of responses with many Redditors rushing to share their opinions. One person replied: “It’s annoying to send multiple text messages in a row because of the constant notifications ring. Just send it as one long text.”
Another user added: “I gotta be honest I do this but only because my girlfriend sends me lots of messages when I am just chilling and don't want to bother with all of that. Just reply to the last one and then put the phone down for another 30 minutes or so. End of the day no matter who you are if you're sending tons of text messages people are going to start tuning you out. Make it succinct and important.”

However, many, many people were left fuming on behalf of the woman and trashed her husband in the comments calling him a “child” and describing his behaviour as “disrespectful”. One user quipped: “I’m sorry, what? Is your husband 6 years old?”
The wife later revealed that she had spoken to her husband about the Reddit post and he had admitted he was at fault. She added: “My husband admits he’s wrong and has no desire to read any more responses. I think he got the message after the first 50. He said he just said that cause he was p**** in the moment. Probably backpedaling but I’ll accept it.”
