AN ex-Man Utd star has gone from silverware at the Theatre of Dreams to silver hair on his final big stage.

The goalkeeper, 37, has unveiled a platinum look with home-country giants Boca Juniors.

Romero is Argentina's most-capped stopper, with 96 appearances from 2008-2018.

His international swansong came midway through six years as David de Gea's back-up at Old Trafford, where he won the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League.

And as well as new streaks in his hair, he's still showing flashes of brilliance on the pitch.

Romero pulled off a double shootout save as Boca sunk Palmeiras in last season's Copa Libertadores semis.

Sadly for the ex-Sampdoria No1, Fluminense avenged defeat for their fellow Brazilians with a 2-1 win at the final in Rio de Janeiro last November.

Now Romero has changed his locks in an effort to help Boca find the key to solving their surprise early plight this campaign.

He's gone silver for the past two matches - with the so-called "second phase" of the season, which began last month, just under way.

Romero's fashion re-think was highlighted in a fun video by hair salon Peluqueria Nino.

And Argentine channel TyC Sports posted a picture of the stopper training with the new do.

The stylists have previously given new looks to other Boca stars, including another ex-Red Devil in 34-year-old defender Marcos Rojo.

Even team coach Diego Martínez has been cropped by the salon.

Now Romero will hope his new style has fringe benefits for Boca.

The 35-time Argentinian champs are nearer the drop zone than the title hunt after the four-game first phase this term.

Despite picking David de Gea as his regular no.1, former Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho was a huge fan of Romero's.

And the Special One credited the Argentine with winning him the Europa League.

He said: "I won a Europa League final with [long balls from] Sergio Romero to Marouane Fellaini.

"Ajax pressing – but pressing oxygen because the ball was not there.

"Ball to Fellaini’s chest. Play from there. Two-nil. Bring the cup home. Three titles. Disaster of a season.”
