Stacey Solomon says she would rather stay at home than go out partying with celebs.

The Loose Women star reckons that curling up on the sofa with her family beats anything else. Stacey, 34, said: “I love coming home. My favourite part of the day is getting excited about coming home to Pickle Cottage, where I live with my husband Joe [Swash] and five kids.

“Actually, my favourite thing in the world is getting on the sofa. And first the dogs, then all the pickles [the children] follow along, piling on top of me. Just laying with them, watching TV, having cuddles and being together… it’s where I belong. I know all too well there’ll be a day when they’d rather play the PlayStation, so I’m making the most of these moments.”

After finding fame on The X Factor in 2009, Stacey has carved out a successful television career. As well as appearing on ITV ’s Loose Women, she is now arguably the queen of DIY TV and crafting at home, thanks to her work on BBC ’s Sort Your Life Out and Channel 4 series, Renovation Rescue.

In a chat with My Weekly, Stacey said her ability to look after her five children – Zachary, 15, Leighton, 11, Rex, three, Rose, two, and one-year-old Belle – and make multiple TV shows is down
to her high energy levels and supportive family.

She explained: “I’ve always had a lot of energy. I think sometimes I’ve got more energy than I should have, for fulfilling the amount of tasks I have to do in a day. But I feel like you drag it up from somewhere. You get up and think, ‘I’ve got to just find the energy and go and do it and finish it’. And you look forward to the days when you don’t have much on the ‘to do’ list.”

Paying tribute to those around her, she added: “Neither Joe nor I could do what we do without the help and support of our families. I come from a huge family – I’m one of seven siblings –and my mum and dad are incredible. And Joe’s family are really helpful too. It’s such a privilege to have that.”

Stacey was speaking to promote her new role as a Dulux ambassador. She revealed her favourite paint colour is pink and said: “It is a great starting point for those who want to get experimental with colour in the home. You can brighten it up or tone it down by using complimentary colours.”
