THIS is the incredible moment a Ukrainian tank charges across No Man's land and fires at point-blank range.

Dramatic footage shows a Ukrainian T-72 furiously charging across unoccupied territory ready to strike Russians.

The tank fires with its main gun once as it continues heading towards Russian trenches.

It momentarily stops on the battlefield before firing again as thick smoke can be seen billowing in the air.

It is unclear where the attack happened.

It comes as the US and Germany announced on Thursday they would provide armoured vehicles to Ukraine.

Washington is expected to send military assistance including 50 Bradley Fighting Vehicles, also known as "light tanks" while Berlin will send a number of Marder vehicles.

Bradleys, which are usually armed with a 25 mm autocannon, a 7.62 mm machine gun and anti-tank missiles, will provide Ukrainian forces with additional firepower.

Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Pat Ryder said: "It's not a tank, but it's a tank killer.

"We're confident that it will aid them on the battlefield."

Earlier today the Russian leader broke the ceasefire he proposed as Ukrainian cities were bombarded with shelling.

Vladimir Putin ordered a 36-hour ceasefire on the Ukraine frontline in the first break in fighting since the beginning of the war.

He instructed his defence minister Sergei Shoigu to introduce the ceasefire regime along the "entire line of contact" from midday on January 6 to midnight on January 7.

Putin had called for the ceasefire to coincide with Orthodox Christmas celebrations, which traditionally take place on January 7.

But just hours after the truce was set to start, Ukraine said shelling could still be heard in the city of Bakhmut while rockets were sent to Kramatorsk damaging 14 homes.

n Kherson, a fire station and other buildings were shelled shortly before the so-called ceasefire - leaving at least one dead and more injured.

The so-called ceasefire is expected to continue until midnight Saturday Moscow time (21.00 GMT).

Ukraine hit back at the proposal with President Volodymyr Zelensky saying: "Now they want to use Christmas as a cover to stop the advance of our guys in the (eastern) Donbas (region) for a while and bring equipment, ammunition and mobilized people closer to our positions."

On Twitter Zelensky's advisor, Mykhailo Podolyak wrote: "First. Ukraine does not attack foreign territory and does not kill the civilian population, as Russia does.

"Ukraine only destroys members of the occupation army on its territory... Second.

"The Russian Federation must leave the occupied territories - only then will a "temporary truce" begin.

"Leave the hypocrisy to yourself..."

There were fears the ceasefire may have been an attempt by Vlad to amass more troops and move his military equipment into Belarus.
