Firstly, you need to decide which type of scent your dad would like. Aftershave is the weakest of the bunch with it having only around one to three per cent perfume oil mixed with other soothing ingredients to calm the skin after a shave. The smell usually only lasts a few hours.
Eau De Toilette contains the most oil at four to eight per cent and is too heavy for the face. It's best applied to common pulse points such as the neck, wrists and inside of the elbows, and should last up to eight hours.

Cologne sits in between the two, with about two to five per cent perfume oil. It's recommended that you don't store your cologne in the bathroom where it's subject to high temperatures and steam, as this can break down the delicate fragrance notes and create a different smell to what it's actually meant to have.
