JOAO PALHINHA has reportedly agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich.

And the Fulham midfielder is expected to complete a £38million transfer this week.

Palhinha, 28, looked poised to join the German giants last summer for between £60m and £70m.

So much so that the Portuguese completed his medical in Germany and even posed for photographs with the famous red shirt.

However, the transfer collapsed on deadline day when Fulham pulled out having been unable to source a replacement.

A year on, though, Bayern have reignited their interest - and at a much lower price.

According to Sky Germany, talks have resumed between the two clubs and are progressing quickly.

Fabrizio Romano adds that Palhinha is happy with the contract and salary on offer and wants to get the move done.

And it is understood the transfer could be completed in the next few days - before Euro 2024 starts, ironically in Germany.

Palhinha - who has also been a target for Manchester City - is part of Roberto Martinez's 26-man Portugal squad hoping to repeat their success of 2016.

The Cottagers ace started both of the warm-up friendlies this week, a 4-2 win over Finland and a 2-1 defeat to Croatia.

Portugal are in Group F, starting their campaign on June 18 against Czech Republic before facing Turkey and Georgia.

Palhinha's expected arrival into the Bayern Munich team could see him replace Joshua Kimmich.

The German holding midfielder has been linked with an exit - with Barcelona, Arsenal and now City said to be interested.

New Bayern boss Vincent Kompany is also willing to let the likes of Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, Leon Goretzka, Noussair Mazraoui and De Ligt all leave in a major summer clear-out.

Palhinha arrived at Fulham from Sporting in 2022, racking up eight goals in 79 appearances for the West Londoners.

He was named the club's player of the year in his first season and has topped the Premier League tackles chart in both campaigns.

Marco Silva has already lost another key player with Tosin Adarabioyo's contract expiring and the former Manchester City youngster joined Chelsea as a free agent.
