DISNEY+ fans were horrified and left gasping "this ruined it” after they misheard a lyric in the smash-hit Disney princess film Moana.
The musical sensation follows a brave Polynesian chief's daughter, Moana, as she embarks on a journey to save her village from famine by reuniting a mystical relic with the demi-god Te Fiti.

When Moana was released in 2016, it became a smash hit at the box office, raking in more than $56 million in its opening weekend in the US.
The soundtrack, written by Broadway legend Lin-Manuel Miranda, the author of Hamilton, also became a streaming sensation.

In the clip shared on British Memes' Instagram page, which gained more than 1.3 million likes, Moana can be heard singing the final verse of the song I Am Moana.
As the song climaxed, fans believe she sang: "It's like the tide, always f****g rising."
However, the correct lines are: "And the call isn't out there at all. It's inside me. It's like the tide. Always falling and rising."
Viewers were left in stitches as they took to the comment section and joked about the misheard lyric.
"I've actually seen this movie at least 200 times, now I can't f***ing remember what the actual lyric is. Now I only hear 'f***ing rising' in that accent. This ruined it,” one user penned.
Another chimed: "Moana turned into Merida for a split second," while a third commented: "My husband's Scottish and he’s said this since the first time he saw the movie. I’ll never hear it any other way."
Elsewhere, some users couldn't hear it at all, as one fan wrote: "I cannot hear what y'all are talking about. It just sounds like falling and rising to me."
The adventures of the young chiefess, whose name means ocean, don't stop there because following the success of the first Moana film, a sequel will be released in cinemas on November 27, 2024.
Bosses originally planned for the sequel to be a TV series, however, Disney boss Bob Iger revealed it would now be a full-length animated film.

“The original Moana film from 2016 recently crossed 1 billion hours streamed on Disney+ and was the most streamed movie of 2023 on any platform in the US."
The official synopsis for Moana 2 reads: “Perils abound! In Walt Disney Animation Studios’ all-new epic animated musical, Moana 2, three years since her first voyage, Moana is on an expansive journey in search of people beyond the shores of Motunui.
“Joined by Maui and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced."
Unfortunately Lin-Manuel Miranda won't be back on songwriting duties this time around.
However, it has been confirmed that Dwayne and Auli'i will return as Maui and Moana.
Moana is available to stream on Disney+ now, and Moana 2 will be coming out in cinemas on November 27, 2024.
