Royal fans were left excited after speculation grew that Princess Beatrice and Eugenie could become working royals again - but an expert has warned such a move could spark tension among the family.
Grayce McCormick, founder of Lightfinder Public Relations, made the remarks following the sisters' recent appearance at the Buckingham Palace garden party last month. Rumours began to circulate after they joined Prince William at the event. However, the PR expert said the pair shouldn't become working royals as it would undoubtedly cause friction.
She believes if they were to become working royals it could impact the "monarchy's public image" as competition could rise between the sisters' and other members of the family. She said: "The emergence of new working royals may fuel comparisons and competition within the Royal Family. It could potentially lead to internal tensions or conflicts that could damage the monarchy's public image."
King Charles, Queen Camilla and Prince William currently stand as the three main working royals at the moment with Princess Kate absent. Aside from these three, Prince Edward, the Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke of Kent, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester are also classed as working royals, reports Express.
The Princess of Wales stepped back from public duties earlier this year following major abdominal surgery - and hasn't been publicly seen since Christmas Day. Unrelated to her surgery, Princess Kate revealed in March that she was undergoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer.
Meghan Markle 'to unleash her own memoirs' as Prince Harry's drops next weekPrince Harry and Meghan Markle made the decision to step down as senior working royals back in 2020. The couple now reside in the US with their two children - Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. Prince Andrew also stepped down from royal duties in 2019. Earlier this month, Eugenie and Beatrice were warned to "keep their heads down and quietly get on with their lives".
Speaking to GB News, Luana Ribeira - the PR guru and founder of Dauntless PR - said: "For Beatrice and Eugenie, there is also the 'Prince Andrew factor'. Although they cannot be held responsible for the words and actions of their father, I think their current strategy of keeping their head down and quietly getting on with life is a wise one for them." With the sisters marked as non-working royals, both Beatrice and Eugenie have their jobs outside the Firm and are not funded by the UK taxpayer.
