YOU may have noticed strange new statuses appearing on Instagram lately.
It's a new feature known as Instagram Notes, which are short text-based posts.
What is the Instagram share notes feature?
The Notes feature is a different type of disappearing content like Instagram stories.
Instead of relying on your photos or fancy imagery, it relies on simple text.
It might make you think of the old MSN status days.

The feature allows you to post short messages to your friends privately.
But keep it short and sweet, as it only lets you put a maximum of 60 characters.
You can share them with people of your choice, including your Close Friends or mutual followers.
They can reply to your messages and have a secret note party for 24 hours.
You'll find it located at the top of your DM inbox.
As Meta described the idea: "Notes gives you a personal space to share updates as short text posts with certain people who can then reply to them using messaging on Instagram."

The feature is now available to everyone after starting as a limited test last year.
What are users saying about the new feature?
Although it is a good way to easily connect with friends and share secret statuses, some are not too excited about the new feature.
