Ben Foster has boldly tipped Wrexham for a third successive promotion.
The Red Dragons are basking in a second successive promotion after going up to League One, just 12 months after regaining their Football League status. Going up again to the Championship would be a tall order, but former Wrexham keeper Foster reckons the club, under Hollywood A-listers Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, will have no intention of merely consolidating in the third tier.
Wrexham have already released a string for key players from the last two seasons to make room for the extra quality they’ll need for the third tier. And provided they land the right replacements, another promotion is on the cards, according to Foster, 41, who went back into retirement after beginning the season with the north Wales club.
“It’s hard to replace that level of person in the changing room,” he said on his Fozcast podcast. “If one club can do it, Wrexham can do it because their recruitment policy is: ‘We recruit people first and they have to be good at football’.
Pressed on whether another promotion is on in 2024/25, Foster nailed his colours to the mast, declaring: “I think they’re going to do it, I really do. I think they’re going to invest in half-a-dozen really good players. Solid people, solid professionals that are going to raise the standard a little bit more.

“I guarantee you, the owners, manager [Phil Parkinson], the coaching staff and even some of the players will not be thinking about solidifying. They’ll be thinking they want to at least be knocking on the doors of the play-offs.”
