ASCOT is the scene of seven super-competitive races on Saturday - including the Victoria Cup.

It's another big afternoon of racing, so our resident tipster Templegate is back with his placepot picks for the afternoon.

The Placepot is a bet where you select a horse to be placed in the FIRST SIX races of any meeting.

You can pick more than one horse in a race – you just multiply the number of selections in each race to calculate your stake. So for staking it’s 2x1x2x1x2x2 which adds up to 16 lines.

You can stake what you want upwards from 5p a line. 10p a line is £1.60 with our picks and so on.

ASCOT SATURDAY PLACEPOT TIPS

LEG 1: Think First, Kotari

THINK FIRST was a revelation back on the Flat when a good second at Epsom last time. He enjoyed himself over this trip and should improve fitness-wise for that first run in five months. He’s dropped in the handicap and the first-time hood may help.

KOTARI has won two lesser races very nicely including by ten lengths at Salisbury last time. He has yet to win over this trip but is a two-mile hurdler so should have no stamina issues for the Moore team.

LEG 2: Mother Mary, Bellarchi

MOTHER MARY did well last season and was far from disgraced in a Kempton Listed contest on comeback last month. She is already proven over this mile trip and went close off this handicap mark at Pontefract in September. She looks capable of better under Saffie Osborne.

BELLARCHI went down in a head-bobber at Beverley last time on the back of a good all-weather win at Southwell. She shapes as though this mile will suit and has little weight for this hike in class. She looks overpriced.

LEG 3: Hickory, Popmaster

HICKORY was placed in two big-field handicaps over course and distance last summer. He warmed up with a good second at Kempton last time and the handicapper has left his mark alone. He should be right on the premises again.

POPMASTER is best over this trip so it was good to see him run well over 6f in a Group 3 on comeback at Newmarket. He went close in two hot handicaps here last season and will be right there again on ground that suits.

LEG 4: Hallasan, Aysgarth

HALLASAN was a promising third on debut at Newmarket last time, beaten less than one length. There should a lot more to come.

AYSGARTH was a relatively expensive buy who should know his job on debut for Clive Cox.

LEG 5: City Burglar, Magico

CITY BURGLAR signed off last season with a good handicap win at Ayr and is only 3lb higher in the weights today.

MAGICO has won his past two runs nicely and has scope to improve as a three-year-old.

LEG 6: Warda Jamila, Turn Up The Heat

WARDA JAMILA wasn't beaten far on comeback at Newbury last month and should come on the for the run.

TURN UP THE HEAT looked a winner in waiting when a close second at Bath on her seasonal comeback for Ralph Beckett.
