ABBA reunion teased and Olly Alexander's Eurovision chances as winner 'unveiled'

The 2024 Eurovision Song Contest tonight could see the reunion of Swedish icons ABBA to mark 50 years since they won the competition, with many punters believing that this will happen, according to online betting and gaming brand Betway.

While not odds-on for ABBA to join the show in Malmo, Sweden this evening, the bookmaker has reported a constant stream of bets this week for them to take to the stage, with the odds much shorter for the holograms of the group to perform, with the ABBA Voyage tour continuing to sell out in London.

If the iconic group do not show, the bookmaker says there are short odds on a "Dancing Queen" rendition to feature at any point throughout the night or a live ABBA tribute act to grace the stage.

Meanwhile, the chances of Olly Alexander triumphing for the UK seems a long shot, with the 33-year-old former Years & Years singer currently a rank outsider at 100/1 and his semi-final performance being slammed by viewers ahead of the big show tonight. The winners are heavily tipped to be Croatia with them odds-on to win the competition, with Israel and Switzerland as the closest challengers to many punters' favourites to win.

‌Chad Yeomans, spokesperson at Betway, said: "As Europe prepares for one of the most fun nights of the year, all eyes in the UK will be on Olly Alexander tonight, as The Years and Years singer takes to the stage. Despite his established pop star status, the "It’s a Sin" star has had a jittery start to Eurovision week and he’s drifted from 50/1 to an ice-cold 100/1 in the market to win the competition. The UK is also now at odds of 6/1 to finish last and 25/1 to receive no points at all.

“However, it may not all be bad news, as we’re seeing plenty of bets for ABBA to reunite on stage this evening in some form for the first time in decades. So even if the UK does get a few dreaded 'nul-points' as the countries call in their scores, we may have the chance to see Agnetha, Anni-Frid, Benny, and Bjorn on stage again tonight in what could be a truly epic moment in music history."

‌The latest odds with Betway on an Abba Special are; Abba Voyage (Holograms) to perform on stage - 4/6; Dancing Queen rendition to feature at any point during the final - 3/1; Live Abba tribute act to feature on stage - 4/1; Abba (Original Members) to perform live on stage - 50/1.

The top odds for the ‌Eurovision Song Contest 2024 winner are; ‌Croatia – 5/6; Israel - 5/2; Switzerland - 6/1; France - 10/1; Ireland - 16/1; Ukraine - 18/1.
