Galaxy smartphones are designed to enable users to optimize the longevity of batteries, said Samsung.

The electronics firm explained that battery life depends on how the device is used - various phones have a different battery life.

POWER SAVING ON S22

To save power on a Samsung Galaxy S22, for example, firstly swipe down the top of the screen to reveal the gadget's quick panel.

Next, tap and hold the power mode icon.

Thirdly, adjust the power settings according to your preference.

For example, the power saving options enable you to switch off 5G, decrease the screen's brightness, or limit apps.

Alternatively, you can head to the phone's settings page.

With this method, tap on battery and device care.

Next, tap battery (under device care option).

Then, tap more battery settings.

And, within more battery settings there are a number of features available for battery optimization.

Adaptive battery: Limits the battery usage for apps that you do not often use.

Processing speed: This can be adjusted between optimised, high and maximum. Using optimised takes less strain on the battery and saves power.

TIPS FOR OTHER SAMSUNG PHONES

The batteries of other Samsung phones can also be boosted.

The phone giant recommends keeping your smartphone between 20-80% charged.

"Install the latest software version and keep apps updated. These updates may contain important battery-related improvements and can fix known malfunctions," it added.

The easiest way to save power is to turn on power saving from the swipe down menu.

You can also check the battery consumption data directly from the Galaxy device menu.

First, head to settings, then tap on battery and device care or device care depending on your phone.

Tap battery - this should tell you that it is optimizing.

ADJUST SETTINGS

"Long screen time-out settings or high display brightness can substantially reduce the battery," said Samsung.

To reduce screen brightness, just swipe down from the top of the screen to reveal the quick panel, then use the slider to adjust the brightness. Alternatively, go to settings/display.

And if you want to reduce the screen resolution, go to settings/ display/change screen resolution.

BLUETOOTH

Most gadgets run on lithium-ion batteries, and over time, the amount of charge this type of battery can hold decreases.

That means you need to charge your device more often because they hold less charge.

"Many folks also recommend turning off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as a power-saving tactic — Wi-Fi and Bluetooth each use a fraction of the power of GPS and cellular connectivity — but some people don’t like the trade-offs," said Samsung.

"On the other hand, you can save some power (and sanity) by turning off notifications whenever a public Wi-Fi network is available and turning off Wi-Fi while your phone is asleep."
