Erik ten Hag has made it known that the continued delay over his Manchester United future is impacting on their transfer business.

The Dutchman, who won the FA Cup in the final domestic game of the season, is waiting to hear whether or not he'll remain in his role at Old Trafford. A review is being conducted with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS yet to decide on whether they'll stick by Ten Hag - more than a fortnight after the season ended.

The ex-Ajax boss is currently on holiday but frustration is growing with the club yet to settle on their transfer strategy. Their recruitment is likely going to depend on who their manager is and Ten Hag believes the constant delay will cost them going into next season, reports the Telegraph.

It is understood that, when United come to do their business, there will be limited funds available. The club have over spent on players during Ten Hag's tenure. The £86million they splurged on Antony is the biggest recruitment failure under the Dutchman and speaks to a wider problem.

Transfer priorities have not yet been decided, although a centre-half is thought to be high on the club's wishlist. Ten Hag envisaged that a decision would be made on the managerial position soon after the season ended, but that has not proved to be the case and the Dutchman came out fighting after, surprisingly, delivering the FA Cup.

He issued a clear challenge as he said, amid reports of him being sacked in Manchester: "If they don't want me any more, I go somewhere else and win trophies, that's what I've done my whole career."

Ten Hag knows that United and their bosses have been holding talks with possible replacements. Discussions were held with Thomas Tuchel but the German has opted to take a break from football after departing Bayern Munich.

Mauricio Pochettino, who has been linked with the Old Trafford job on several occasions, is not thought to be under consideration after he left Chelsea. Brentford's Thomas Frank and Roberto De Zerbi, who recently left Brighton, are both linked with the role but there is no obvious first-choice candidate.

Beyond making a managerial decision the priorities for Ratcliffe and those he bought with him is upgrading United’s training ground, which has been deemed second rate and copped criticism, and getting the best out of the existing under-performing squad. United are due back for pre-season training at the start of July.
